Default THEFT - Marblehead West Shore. (Salem)

There has been a bunch of theft of Marbleheads west shore (salem side). They got my boat this week. Scum bags. Lucky I took my tuna gear off. Police took prints off my hatches. They stole 12k in gear off one boat.

Took a bunch of minor stuff off mine ($200 or so). Tried to take my gps but couldn't get it out. Police said they have bolt cutters and are cutting locks. Also targeting yeti coolers.

Please don't leave expensive stuff to overnight. Spread the word.

I'm putting a camera on board with an alarm I think.

Sorry to hear you got hit. Cops called me yesterday and wanted to use my video feed.
I think they know not to get near my boat, it's wired to the max with sensors and cams reporting to my cell.

On a mooring. Lucky my tuna gear is always kept at home.

Ethan. Can you PM me about some of the stuff you recommend for security.

I'm really surprised that all you guys who wire your own boats don't mistakenly ground your huge subwoofer capacitors to grabrails and such on accident.

Just realized they got my go pro with upgraded capacity card and attachments kit.

Bastards. Marblehead Police are pretty ticked. Both detectives own boats in the harbor. Mines now a felony because of the go pro. Total with everything around $400-500.

They will catch them. I should spend the night with my shotgun. First thing I'd do is kick them really hard between the legs. Mess with my car is one thing. Don't mess with my boat. Ever. Bastards.

Mind if I raft up? Just kidding, of course.

This is troubling news.. I've been on the boat on vacation down by the Cape for the past week and a half. I was going to put my boat back on its West Shore mooring this weekend. Now, I'm not so sure. I have about $5k in new nav equipment that I'm not looking to lose.

I'm on a temporary mooring now in West Shore - with my permanent mooring still right off Winter Island. I'll probably start leaving it there since it's right next to the harbormaster's office. I'm guessing they won't be trying to hit boats right under their noses.

Time to check my insurance policy!

Not like that would do anything.

Thank you for the information- I will be leaving work early to head up there and check things out.
We leave deck chairs out all the time and have never had any issue. I have the gas grill sitting in a locker on the deck..very easy targets
If anyone wants to use my boat at night to watch for and sh**t these guys let me know. I mean alert the police. I will even provide a password to Netflix. The reception on the 45" flat screen isn't great in the harbor.

I heard of more of our friends getting hit for some pretty serious tuna equipment over the weekend.

Something to look into:

I'm using the Siren Marine MTC monitoring system.

https://sirenmarine.com/

Cheap money for the peace of mind. It works with Alexa or by an App, notifying you immediately and blowing the rats off the boat. Frickin thing will turn on the fridge, monitor anything or whatever if you want. Video for the Siren Marine module is in the works.

"If you already don’t know about this, do yourself a favor. The best thing that I have done yet is to get the Siren Marine monitoring/alarm system. The boat texts you if it’s stolen, too cold/hot, low batteries, crackheads on-board, shore power alert, high water, bilge pump on/off and location/perimeter alert."

For video now I'm using the Logitech Logi Circle 2 camera streaming alerts and video to my cellphone by Hotspot from an iPad with AT&T, I leave on-board.

Was out in the boat today. While we have little of value on the boat we still lock up the door to the cabin for whatever that's worth. It sucks because it makes me suspicious to the point where when I saw a skiff go by that I didn't recognize. I kept watching him as he slow cruised by the CC next to me. Could be he knew the boat and wanted to scare the sea gull away. Could be he was casing the harbor for another night. Theives Suck!

I just checked on things, and luckily I was not hit. I did see a kid with bolt cutters, a beat up truck and gear in the bed. I Really wanted to take pictures and now I'm beating myself up not doing it. Right now everyone looks suspicious

That was me taking my equipment home. My friend is an mechanic. I use the bolt cutters to cut sharks off when I catch them. Caught a 6' today and saw tuna crashing. I don't live large or dress it but I manage runway rehabilitation projects and improvements in the terminals at Logan Airport and Hanscom Airforce Base.

I already got hit by there thiefs.

Here's my advice based on what police told me.
They are cutting locks off
They didn't steal my gps but tried. Must of been spooked.
They stole some food
Tools stolen.
Go pro stolen
Police said they are targeting yeti coolers

Best thing we can do is get alarms and team up. I appreciate who called me out. That's exactly what we need to do. We need to team up. I'd put $100 towards a reward in catching them.

I certainly did not mean to insult you or your ride. After hearing about this today and hearing the thieves were using bolt cutters and taking gear, everyone looked suspicious.
I hate looking at people this way, but in these times you can not be too careful.

I will kick in $100 towards the reward. it is the least can do to help keep these aholes out of a great place. I have been there for 14 years, multiple boats and never had an issue. (just don't put to towards a new truck (Joke)
We may have more in common, we do a lot of work at hanscomb and Logan. recently worked on the runway project.

No offense taken at all. I appreciate it. We need to start doing that.

I have a nice jeep. Let's just say my friends truck needs some work.
