Replacing Bulkhead (Barnegat)

Hi all
I'm looking for some advice on replacing my bulkhead. I have 75' on a lagoon in Barnegat. Everything is original (put in in the early 60s) and needs to be replaced in the next year or so. I know of Borel and some of the other common names around here. Looking for some info/advice on what to look for in sheet thickness (I'll be going with vinyl), piling thickness, piling depth, how often is there a tie back to the deadman, etc. I got a verbal generalize quote over the phone for somewhere in the ballpark 20k, which is what I'm expecting. I would just like to have some background knowledge of things to look for so I make sure everything is done correct. My neighbor and I may do ours at the same time in hopes to save some cash.
Any advice would be great!
Matt

Matt,
Borel did mine as well as the pilings for the new home I built in Forked River. Amon was the other company we got a quote from, they were both in the same ballpark and IMO do similar quality work. I was very pleased with Borel and will use them again for the next house I build. I would give Ty a call and he will school you on everything you need to know. I am a GC, and cash is still king with most guys. - Steve

Hey Matt, just got our permit in order, will replace the bulkhead and dock in October. I didn't price it out yet but RC Burdick from Point Pleasant did the engineering. He can answer all your questions regarding construction specifications.

Thanks guy. One of the things I am being told is to ensure I get in writing how deep they are going to leave the water. Going to have to make sure that's all agreed on. Is everyone kind of in the same ballpark on price? Basically I am looking at $250/ft which includes a 5ft dock.

Borel or Albert Marine, may not be the cheapest but they will be done right. I'm not 100% sure but I think every 3rd or 4th piling or so has a dead man. It depends on how close the pilings will be.

I used Buterick Bulkheading (609-597-8426 ) out of Manahawkin NJ ask for Fred. Did a great job easy to work with and very trustworthy. His dad did our first dock many years ago.
