Default 2016 South of the Vineyard Thread

Between work and family and a slow mechanic not fixing an oil leak, I'm not in the water yet. If I can't fish, at least like to live vicariously through others. I know Legal Bill usually starts it, but let's get it going... Let's consolidate our info here for all to benefit. I know I will post as soon as I get out...

Subscribed--was waiting on Bill too--I'll be fishing out of Falmouth the week of June 13th--hope to get offshore at least a couple of times and would love to have some buddy boats out there. Should be able to get out a few times later in July and August as well.

We went out today and hit tuna ridge, trolled for 5 hours amongst quite a few other boats. We saw some birds but not much other life, at one point we had a decent sized 150 ish pound bluefin air out just to the side of the boat but couldnt get a hook in anything. Heard some chatter on the radio and sounded like one or two boats had some luck near us. After that we set up a slick at the suffolk and brought up 7 blue sharks. Great calm day on the water with a nice foggy ride in.

I was one of those boats fishing Tuna Ridge. We had some life when we got there. Saw a med blue fin on the surface, blue dog on the surface and we marked several fish but no takers. Life faded away as the morning went on. Real foggy ride on the way in.

Went out to the dump Saturday
Lifeless.
Found lots of bait and a stray whale around the fingers.
Found pea soup the whole way home
Strange day. Dense fog with sunglasses on.
It was Great to be out again

Hey Bruce,

Was that you we were running beside heading from the Horns to Butterfish on Saturday with the Gulfstream 232?

We were in the identical boat.

I ran to butterfish hole and made way to the horns Friday 6/3. Took a beating running my new 31 fountain cc out of old saybrook. Got to the butterfish hole around 6:30. No sign of life, trolled in beautiful blue water that had a break from 57-61. Marked some fish down deep and had bait endless all day stacked 50-130'. A couple streaks that looked aggressive but not a sniff. A friend went Saturday and took down a 50" and 67" a little east of bf hole. I set up a slick around 11:00 and had one measly blue dog show up to be lock jaw. Not a great trip but nice to get off the land a bit.

Default Trolling vs. chunking

Anyone get out? Wind was less than forecast but rain came earlier than expected. Fortunately no lightning.

Dead at Coimbra through at least midday.

Got caught in the rain on the ride back to CT but, as you say, no lightening.
