Default Fire Island Inlet/Moriches Inlet

Finishing up my first season with my boat and wondering if anyone has any advice for fall fishing in either of these inlets. I caught a lot of fluke throughout the summer, most of them small, but had an absolute blast.

I don't really have any experience fishing beyond the summer. Thanks for any advice at all!

Default Blackfish starts Oct 5

If you want to keep fishing the wait for the Fall striper run or head to the reefs for Seabass, porgies, or Blackfish.

blues will be running the shore with bass under them. drag some umbrela rigs slow 30-50' water. if you had fun with Fluke just wait till you hook up a 12# blue..

Moriches Inlet is a dangerous place and requires local knowledge. Fire Island Inlet is much much safer. Right now, you can catch some striped bass at Moriches if you use expensive spot. You can safely drift the inlet. It's only if you go outside that you really get into problems. Otherwise, not much else going on in Moriches. Some kingfish and porgies around.

Absolutely, I spent a lot of time watching the Sea Tow boats, Coast Guard, and police boats going through the inlet as I fished this summer. On a few nice days, I actually followed them out too. At this point, I'm gonna pretty much stay out of the ocean unless it is a beautiful day. Once I get more experience I will probably venture out a little more...

Anyone have any advice on best pole setup for stripers? How much weight do you put on when drifting in the inlet?

I appreciate the info...I've looked for information specific to this area, but I haven't found too much!
