Default Constitution Cannon fire at Sunset

Hi - is the Constitution still firing a cannon at sunset? Does this continue year round or is it seasonal? I'm taking some folks out for a Boston harbor cruse and would like to know if cannon is still being fired. I know that it is in drydock at the moment so we won't be able to see much of it from the water.

Thanks

I personally have not heard it since she went into dry dock, so I'm guessing not or at least not daily

You need to call. I know it fired multiple times on 9/11.

Yes - I took my colleagues for their Boston Harbor tour last night and it fired on schedule at 6:38 and lowered the flags. I had tried calling the phone number for the museum and couldn't get through to a human. I ended up finding the email address for the "USS Constitution Flags Division" and received a quick response from a Navy FN (Fireman) who probably is involved with the actual firing who stated that the cannon firing will not be affected by the Drydock.

On flying flags:
"USS CONSTITUTION's Flags Coordinator honors requests to fly National Ensigns (a.k.a. American Flags) of recognized current and historic configurations, U.S. Navy Jacks and other official flags of military branches, state and federal government agencies."

For the benefit of those not familiar, the idea is that if you wanted to give someone with US Navy or related roots a unique and special gift, perhaps on their retirement for example, you could buy a flag and have it flown on the Constitution. They would receive with the flag, a certificate stating that the flag was flown over the Constitution on such and such date. You can also have flags flown over the United States Capitol building. I heard that on 4-July-1976 over 10,000 flags were flown over the Capitol building for this purpose - that's a log of flags...!
