Default East Of Race Point Buddy Boat Thread

Guys,

I am going to steal Legal Bill's thread idea here with a small twist. Hope you don't mind Bill.

I have downsized my boat and keep it on a trailer, and therefore have the luxury of splashing my boat wherever I want so that I can fish many different locations and areas each season. So one of those areas is Stellwagen and the back side of PTown all the way down to Chatham.

I would like to start a thread with those of you that frequent this area as another way to get some coverage of a different area than South of The Vineyard ( I fish there as well).

So in keeping with the spirit, if we can include intel on trips out to the area and include trip dates and a float plan and any intel that you may gather while out there this would be of value to all of us.

To get started, I plan to splash in Sandwich on Saturday( 8/22) at O Dark Thirty and head across CCB and start the hunt on the back side out to the lanes. There is also some current intel that some of the smaller Tuna are now in CCB in the deeper water, so maybe we won't need go the distance to find the prize. We are the Finchaser on Channel 68, a 24 ft. Silverhawk with a yellow hull.

Who's up next ?

Love this idea...

I'm out of Boston, but I plan on fishing SWC, SEC, PHB and maybe down to the Golf Ball one day next week and a few more times this season. Will definitely post before I go.

I'm in. 23 reg out of Quincy.

I was on vaca this week and fished:

Monday: fished the backside down to nauset. Live macs. Decent life but no bites.

Wednesday: fished all over from middle bank and southern corners. Some bait around but besides that extremely quiet. Drifted macs and trolled

Fished today in some good slop at the SWC. Ton of macs around so I set drifts the entire day with live macs deep and on the kite. Lots of bait, no marks. Quiet.

Needs a different weather front or somehing to shake it up out there...

I was also around the backside on Monday. There was some great life at PHB in the afternoon. Lots of humpbacks bubble feeding and some solid marks on the finder. But no bites...

May not make it out again for a while (heading to the Canyons on tuesday)

Last time I was out there was Friday (8/14). Bait, mackerel, was very thick on SWC so we filled the livewell and headed east to shipping lanes where we caught blue shark. Also saw a 15' GW, came right at the boat and swam along side us, had to be 5-6' in diameter. The previous 2 weeks was very similar minus the white.

Preferably I fish live bait on kite to leward and balloon and down on a weight to windward on the drift. If I can't get bait I'll troll a mix of birds/bars and skirted ballyhoo.

Heading back out there Wednesday (be out there around 9 am) and Sunday (be out there 1st light).

We have been running out of Barnstable all the way north waiting for some action but there have not been many marks despite lots of bait. There was a great ariel show just north of the fishing ledge in about 140' of water by a 7' mako. Lots of jumps, dont usually see that in the bay but its a good sign some fish have turned the corner...

My plan is tomswitch from tuna/whale watch trips to get on the morning bite. I will post any intel. I should be getting out Friday and Sunday. In a 22 grady with THT gunnel mount riggers on 68- Big Big Fish

The Aquarius posted a short GW video taken while on a Charter off Sandy Neck on FB last week.

Headed out of Boston in the early AM, going to work the corners and PHB. We'll probably change gears and go shark fishing towards mid-day if it's dead.

"AZURA" on channel 68 if anyone else is going to be out there.

Default No luck for us

Headed out Sat. at 4:30 AM. Weather was very WET. Rained like a SOB. Spent about and hour running across CCB trying to avoid rain cells then ran into some short lived lightning. That was enough to pull the plug and head back to the east end of the canal.

Got to the east end and it was literally boiling with Stripers. We proceeded to bail just legal stripers for about three hours. Then the weather got really nasty and we pulled the plug.

Overall have not heard of much encouragement from the SWC, etc., so we may splash in Bass River this Sat. and head out to the lanes for some action in the 500' depth area. Weather should be much improved over last weekend, but if the wind is blowing from the east there will be fog.

Finchaser on 68

Good Luck To All,

Fin-

Hoping that slight W wind holds up late Friday early Saturday. I'll probably head out to the golf ball and jog southeast from there.

I use the closest harbor and work from there. How far offshore are you talking?
