Default Offshore Buoys Back in Action!

Well guys, you can thank NDBC for getting our area buoys back in working shape.
Live are 44066 ( TT4), 44025 and 44017.

Let's go fishing!

As to how lucky we were to get the USCG to service the NDBC effort, read this:

Probably will not get more then a couple of months before some commercial boat drags it away or runs over it either by accident or on purpose.

I wonder how many of the others will be returned or repaired (& yet many more unlisted have a few sensors replaced) before the budget cuts fully kick in to impact the USCG & NDBC all too soon?

We have been very active in pursuing the replacements of 44066, 44017 and 44025 as very important to the NY Bight needs. We got what we deserved.
According to the normal schedule servicing happens every 2 years! So if we get things done quicker, kudos to everyone.

44018 is scheduled to be serviced in April.
Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile 44098 appears to be situated in a similar body water and currently providing
basic conditions. At least you have this reference point.

44098 is nearly 60 miles to the north.

April sounds ok to me... Lets see how that goes.

It amazes me that the ONLY data buoy along the outside of the Cape doesn't get some priority. Only buoy until you reach the canyons anyways.....

Until 44066 the NY Bight had none!
Closest was 250 miles out.

See what April brings.
