I think one of the reasons for a higher percentage of sailboats coming off mooring is there are more of them on moorings as opposed to trailers. It is a lot harder to pull a sailboat when you need to pull a mast and rig as opposed to lifting a powerboat and blocking only takes a 15 minutes with a travel lift.

They pulled a bunch of sailboats at my yards without removing the masts on their travel lift, they just blocked and put stands under them, no longer than a power boat from what I saw. I think it's just a different mentality/lifestyle than that of a powerboater?

Sudden Strike, I too believe in free speech, as you'll soon see.

Bottom line here bud is because you're such a small person, you felt the need to make this some sort of pissing contest. Fine...Hurricane Andrew was worse than Irene, but that doesn't diminish the loss of property of life caused by either. I'm sure us northerners could post plenty of stories about Florida shutting down because an orange tree got some frost on it, but we don't.

You've displayed a complete lack of business sense, from first not having the brains to post your "feelings" (i.e. free speech) under a different name than your business. You then essentially make all THT'ers out to be some soft of charity case for you. While I'm sure we thank you for your generosity, it's not needed. As for "not caring"...why then did you pay for a sponsorship?

Either way...you may notice that there are a few posts linking to this page. That was me exercising my free speech, the same free speech that you so covet. I'll expect you to post a reply, directed at the Mod, in full support of my other postings. Well, I won't really expect that...because that would take a bit of integrity on your part.

As for "your" storm Andrew...I truly hope you and your family never have to experience anything like it again, just as I'm sure you wish the same for everyone up here, no matter how much of a pussy storm you think it was.

Good day sir.

do you really have to focus on comparing misery vs misery? Andrew was horrible, I lived it also. But is it necessary to focus on the fact that one might have been worse than another? really?

not a very enlightened post Chuck. I think you need to apologize.

Dang dude, wish you wouldn't have gone there.....I'm one of those guys who will go out of the way to buy from local guys and small retailers rather than the large box stores. But as a customer you always want to feel that your business is appreciated, and yes I have bought stuff from you in the past....Oh well

Default Lake rescue VT

I know its not coastal boating but does anyone have any first hand info on property around lake rescue in Ludlow VT? have spent the last 40 years there renting a summer cabin along with my parents and sisters. Was there two weeks ago with the whaler-have heard the area was devastated....

That's pretty much what prompted my, albeit sophomoric, response. Was hoping he'd see the err in his original post, but when he came back with even more vitriol, I'd had enough. Seems like he doesn't want business from THT'ers, so I figured I'd help facilitate his desire.

I'm guessing we haven't heard the last of him. I don't think his ego will let him walk away from this.

Any takers?

Got shovel out of shed, dug shallow hole, is now laying in it! You had a choice to use your freedom of speech to dig yourself a hole or make some money. You chose to dig the hole. Its usually, ok almost always a good discision to air on the side of caution while posting your business name all over a fishing forum while making embarrasing remarks.. Your comments are simply in bad taste. Maybe one day you will figure that one out. Takes a bigger man to walk away from the fight than to keep beating a dead horse when you were clearly in the wrong.

Lucky for you, there seems to be another hurricane ramping up, maybe you will be lucky and have your home and business wiped off the map so you can have bragging rights again! .

Seriously though, "your storm wasn't as big as my storm" Is simply 2 year old sh!t. Any business lost is business lost. If it is profitable, it is profitable. This site may not be your bread and butter, but I am assuming your advertising here for a reason, and I doubt that reason was to lose money. Good luck with your business.

By the way, I have also made some pretty stupid comments lacking cooth. But I usually man up and say when I'm wrong.

I think we have all heard of free speech, and most of us have heard plenty of stupid speech!!!

I have lived through many hurricanes in Florida and have a few words of caution that I have learned in dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane. There will be at least one person who dies from CO2 poisoning from running a generator in their garage, basement or close to an open window......please don't let that person be yourself or a family member. Be careful during your clean up and be especially careful after your power is restored if you have water damage, electricity and water are not a fun combination. Good luck and keep your head up, this sucks, but it's only temporary.
