Default 2021 South of the Vineyard Buddy Boat thread

Hello everyone. I have received a few Pos asking if I'm going to start this thread. I usually start it mid-May but I guess people are getting itchy. I fully understand.

This is a thread where people can introduce themselves, put a crew together, and connect with other fishermen who will be fishing in the same waters. It's great for they person who hasn't run south yet but wants to give it a try. It's also great for the old hands that want to share some intel, get some intel, and coordinate their efforts with other fishermen who are out there on the same day.

You can use this thread to set up trips, meet people, and report your trips.

Anyone can participate. I suggest you start your first post with your information in the format I'm using below. I'll try to cut and paste it into the second post of this thread to create a list. Don't give too much personal info. Just enough so that others can communicate with you by PM here and by VHF on the water.

Name: Bill
Port: Waquoit Bay, East Falmouth
Boat: Grady White 306 Bimini

Can’t wait. Sold the Marlin and the running the trailerable 20 foot Robalo still though. Shouldn’t be going as far as the dump but do on occasion. Fish a lot east of the cape and on up to Stellwagen also.

You could also set up an MMSI group/broadcast number. If people add it into their radios, they will get an alert whenever anyone sends a message to it. Kind of like an mmsi party line.

I haven’t used my 50s in so long, been fishing East with spinning gear. I’m hoping the bite is better this year.

We might need a thread or something on that I don't know anything about how to use that or my AIS.

There are a few in the electronics forum. Here is one oldie.. DSC Group MMSI number

Basically you create a gruoup id number, add it to the groups menu in your radio, and when anyone sends a dsc call to that group id you will get an alert. Fishing clubs tend to use them, because it allows them to find other members who are out on the water without using a well known channel.
