I’ve been using a spinning combo (Saragossa 18000 on a Ghost Hunter 200) for jigging the past couple seasons. Looking to get a dedicated jig set up for next season. What are people’s favorite combos?

Looking to get one this winter/spring.
I want a nice setup and I rarely go with anything but top tier reels but I just can’t wrap my head around $1,000 for a Stella. Any other options that will last?

I use a Stella 20k with a 450g 5’ ghost hunter. Thinking about grabbing an alutecnos gorilla 12 with a 450g black hole. Gossa 20k is a great option if you want to save some money.

My first setup was a Saragossa 20000 on a VanStaal which is a great setup for the price.
But if you want something special grab a custom rod. Ralph at CraftyOne made me a beautiful pair of jigging rods with a set of Stella 20000.

I'm selling a black hole 450g cape cod special if you're interested. Send me a PM or find my post in the for sale section. Its probably the best jigging rod for bluefin. I had a van staal VM275 on it before I sold it. If you cant justify the money for a stella 20k, get a saragosa 20k.

If you don't want to break the bank Saragosa 20K on a Centaur Combat Arm H or Ghost Hunter 450 Gen 2
Top Dog Stella 20K on SaltyWater OBX 500 or Black Hole Cape Cod Special 450g or Centaur Chiron H

I fish south of BI and MTK. Yes there are giants that come through, but I’m a rec guy. I try not to target them. I primarily target school and medium BFT. Is a Stella 20k on a Saltycape 500 overkill?

+1 for the Centaur Chiron. I have jigged with Stellas forever for spin (currently paired with a Chiron Tuna Adventurer), but also added a Siegler conventional LGN (long arm) to a Chiron 51BM to mix it up. Its packed with multi-colored PE5, which is great for anticipating the bottom, or just jigging to a certain depth based on line color. Definitely get the jigging-specific PE. The profile of the jigging PE line makes a big difference on the drop. I think Siegler is one of the best deals out there, BTW. Great customer service, made in the USA and $350 bucks. They will also do custom colors, which are insane. I'm guessing your dropping over sand eels a lot so don't dismiss the conventional jig option. Its a super lightweight combo with a ton of power, so you can just jig for the entire day and not get worn out.
