Had a great day fishing with my buddy Mike and his wife on Sunday. We set out to get some Bones for the table and wanted get back in for the Patriots game. When we got to the spot (pm me... it is not super secret and everyone know the spot....but....)and we cast at breaking fish for a while and then switched over to the troll (deep diver crystal minnows). With in 10 minutes Mike's wife catches her first ever Bone. We catch a few more and Mike says his father wants some bluefish. Easy enough we chop the speed back to 3 knots and start catching monster bluefish.... bigger than I have seen inshore in years.

With a bunch of bones and bluefish in hand, I start thinking we should see if we can get Mike's wife a Slam. Well the False Albie are probably in the deeper side of the rip. Let's go to that side. 5 mins later we land Mike's wife's first ever False Albert. We land a few more FA's and now I'm thinking let's get a striper for a Grand Slam. We motor over to a different rip, Mike and I consult on what looks fishy and put lines in..... 3 mins later a cute little striper is in the boat and released. Mike's wife's third species on the "first ever list" and her fourth species of the day. What a great day!!!!

On the way beck to the dock Mike hooks up with a fairly large Falsie on light spinning which he successfully chases all around thee boat. I start looking up "IGFA Slams" to see what qualifies and see a five species day is called a Fantasy Slam. We had to try. So we run to some structure Mike knows and bottom bounce for fluke. We didn't get fluke but a sea bass (released as the season is over). We hit her Fantasy Slam (with 3 first species) and are back at the dock for kickoff.

When I got back to the computer, I found out that IGFA Inshore Slams consist exclusively of fish that don't swim in our water. But I still consider this to be a hugely successful day. Not to to mention all the laughs we shared.... which is really the important part.

Mike

Today was about looking at conditions after yesterday’s winds. Jumped around to 4 spots.
As expected pretty weedy, both FA came within, 1 minute of setting out the lure. Both in the same spot, more than 2 hours apart.(different size lures)

Beautiful water conditions, exactly what I like to see, other than weed.

If only you had asked yesterday .......

Haven’t fished the Hooter recently. While one of my favorite spots, there have been enough fish to not warrant going there.

Hi guys- late to the tread this year. Been a weird season for me. Different job and didnít get nearly as much time to fish. Had a couple nice hooter trips and a few decent FA feeds in upper buzzards.

gonna make one last hooter trip on Sunday. I know itís a long way to go and there are fish closer, but I just love the spot and want to hit it one last time. Will prob bring the BFT gear too and might push a little south for sharks if we get a bunch of bones on ice early.

Late report from yesterday, but there are still albies around Chatham. Picked one up at the tip of Monomoy on the west side where there were a handful of schools. Also caught a blue and a couple schoolies, but I was focused on albies. Some fish around Stage Harbor with lots of boats on them. I was on the water from 7:30 til noon.
