Tuna Bite?
#1

Anyone have any news regarding Bluefin Tuna around the Cape? I'm talking mostly near shore - Stellwagen, Cape Cod Bay, the Dump, Chatham.
I've seen the 'line up' of boats from P-Town to Gloucester on the Western edge of Stellwagen but haven't heard much about catches. I'm hoping for a football or two this summer.

Holy Crap! Nice going!
Was out on SEC 2 weeks ago drifting with live Menhaden and didn't even mark a fish. Went back this past Saturday with Macks and never saw a fish. Tried SWC, nothing.
There were whales, but nothing else.

I would never believe this ^^^^ except we saw the same thing (minus taking air) about a week ago. We saw at least two 500 or 600 lb tuna busting the pogie schools apart in only 6ft of water, less than 100 yards from shore. I haven't heard much about footballs or really any rec sized fish but I suppose it could happen.

Peaked hill and golf ball is dead this year. I have fished it close to 5 x in past 6 weeks with nothing. Whoever says it’s hot must be getting intel from last year lol. All the fish are at the sword.

small tuna have been popping up inshore- close to shore- from gloucester to plymouth all year. problem is they pop up but never stay anywhere, and no one is catching them where people are fishing, just giants with the occasional 72.9" fish being kept recreationally.

Got a small 65" at the sword Friday and after our first 12 trips since June going 8/12 that was the first school tuna I have seen all year. Crab ledge was hot for two weeks in July but so far its been all sword which is a long haul for most of us.

those rec fish behind minot were just passing by not hanging around there, they run from the Gurnet to Isle of Shoals all summer and as soon as you see them they are gone
