In Greenport, Safe Harbor Stirling vs Safe Harbor Greenport
When we've gone to Greenport we've always stayed at Mitchells....always loved that spot.
With economy down, watching the budget this summer we're staying at other Safe Harbor marinas to save money (Safe Harbor lets you stay overnight at others for free for a bunch of nights each year) So we're doing a trip soon and curious about Safe Harbor Stirling, versus Safe Harbor Greenport. Judging from websites and Google Earth, Stirling looks like nicer property...but...reaching out for first hand experiences. |
Both are pretty close to each other, Stirling has a nice pool, the other property has a tiki bar, wasn't impressed with the food or service and I don't have a high bar for judging. I personally would pick Stirling.

With the SafeHarbor free nights, make sure you check out the blackout dates as I believe you can only use them for weekdays right now. Also put in your request as early as possible. I put in several this year and they all got rejected or waitlisted as they were full already.

We never pulled into that little cove, always went by to Mitchells. Looking at them both close up via Google Earth this morning, Stirlings looks very nice as far as the grounds, nice grass areas, kept neat. And then slide over to Greenport..and it's like a big old graveyard of boats, all a bit dusty looking parking lot, no "nice" green areas. |
Stirling is a great place
Stayed there twice in the last 3 years E dock is a blast, great neighbors Be careful if they put you up against the bulkhead at G dock Tough to get out of with a west wind Porto Bello is good, you need reservations Enjoy |
Wife made reservations for middle of the week last week of July....not traveling with "the pack" from our marina, just doing a solo run with her.
Our dancers name is "ME-SHELL" if anyone is out there.... |
So when we stayed at Mitchells...obviously walking into downtown was easy, right up the ramp and across that gorgeous town green.
But when you're at Stirlings or Greenport Marina, you're a few miles away by the road. I heard there is a shuttle that runs back 'n forth, else, people take a long walk, ride bikes...or....I'm sure..."dinghy to town". So my question now is...is there a dinghy dock most peeps use? If so..where? |
