Default 2020 South of Long Island NY--Pelagic Only!

I just turned my ice machine on. A few days ago a clear satellite shot showed 55-57 degree water between Hudson and Block. This thread last year was a great source of information. Hopefully that will continue into 2020. Good luck everyone please stay safe.

Fished a bit East of our last trip out past the 30 line today and stuck a nice over. Missed the best morning feeds but got this 66" to come up and eat a shimano orca in a group of porpoise. A real mean fish we all got a turn on the rod and after 40 minutes or so I got a harpoon shot. The fish proceeded to peel off 200 ft of dart line before stopping. Trollers were getting some unders but we had our fill of meat and came in early. Probably about the max sized fish I'd want to deal with on a popping rod. Caught on an El Maestro 77H and Stella 14k.

This will be my first year running my own boat out for Pelagics. After spending all offseason getting everything in order I can not wait! Look forward to being able to contribute to this thread - BehrAcuda out of Manasquan/Barneget

I found this thread late last year. Had many good trips in the Hudson, Toms and middle grounds last season. Happy to share info. I am going in today and ready to pull the trigger when conditions and water temps permit.

Got out once last year for the first time running my own boat. Didn't venture too far just the tails, looking to do 4-6 trips this year and edge out a little further. Last years thread was such a huge help! Can't wait to get out there again!!

Yeah, diesel is anywhere frrom $.30-$.50 cheaper right now than this time last year. Gas is even cheaper. Insult to injury......

If and when we can get out again, demand will spike and prices will soar because the supply chain will have idled capacity. And so it goes.

Plan on getting out this year 29ft Pursuit ďSandbarĒ. Picked up some gear over the winter, and have had my hms permit for the last few seasons, so figured itís time to get out and go. Iím primarily an inshore guy, but need some change and excitement. Iím sure it wonít be easy, but iíve done a decent amount of research. Letís see what happens. Hope to do a few trips this season. Luckily I was able to get my boat in the water already.
