Yeah, its back. Took a run over to Ocean Beach today. Saw a few boats, looked like they were scalloping. Won’t be long now.

I like to work the back bay for small bass to start, going through different presentations to see what works. This can be 100’s of casts in a lot of areas but its a good way to get sharp again.

I am going to try to have some discipline and wait a bit.. maybe 3rd week in April... but if the weather cooperates it may go in a tad sooner. I initially thought I would go in May but I have to admit I've got the itch... I'm already hearing about the schoolie local stripers up in the rivers and back bays and that weakies are small but around as well...

Things I did to my boat this winter:
-Upgraded New Panoptix Livescope (anyone interested in my prior system... I'll let it go for $500, can't touch it less for $1k on the market)
-Replaced all Lower Unit Seals on both motors.
-New Aft Curtains and Glass
-New Cowling/Motor Cover Paint Job (waiting since Thanksgiving to get them back from the paint place)
-New waterproof, flat surface phone charging station
-Upgraded new knobs for the Taco Grand Slam 390 Outriggers mounts
-Electric VHS Antenna (lowers and raises the antenna so I can get under Smith Point Bridge (high tide) without getting on top of my hardtop)
-New TackleBox and Draw Liners
-Brand New Fusion Radio

At the end of last year we also installed a new 2020 Whaler rub rail and replaced all vinyl in the cockpit area and cabin.

So this baby is ready to go.... I contacted vendors to repower my boat (because it has 1500 hours and thought I would get the new V8's). I was quoted 45K for twin 250's. but after some additional research I learned that it was actually going to cost me closer to 60-65K because they weren't going to be able to keep my rigging and would have to replace it. I decided to pass on that and just ride out the additional 3 years left on my warranty as the motors ran just fine last year....

Just about finished my electronics refit. I will probably cut the wrap off the boat this weekend and mount the new radar dome and get started on the rest of my seasonal maintenance.

The last two years it snowed right after i cut the wrap off but i think we are in the clear this year.

Ran into that same problem several times, got to the point you could almost BANK on snow day after the wrap came off the boat!!! LOL!!! But I agree, I'm thinking we've got that out of the way this year!!!

HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to getting through my first tank of gas and having confidence in the off-season's maintenance. Still a few more days of work before she's ready. Can't wait to hit the creek mouths in the early morning.

I ran the boat on Monday to test a new a prop ,didn’t see much as far as life life, water temp was 42 degrees on an outgoing tide. My brother called me today with reports of adult bunker in his canal.

I was just about to start this thread. I couldn't wait to tell you guys that I had bunker in my canal today. I also took a walk down the block and saw them flipping on the north side of the bay!! My boat should be in on 3/24.
Good luck and tight lines to all.

Looking forward to getting back out there. Boat is going in the water in early/mid April. I considered repowering but decided to run the hpdi's another year. Still considering upgrading the electronics though.
