Default Roll call: Oldport launches causing wakes in Block Island, Edgartown, Newport?

Those of you that spend time in harbors where Oldport Marine offers launch service, are the launches waking you non-stop? I.e. Block Island, Edgartown, etc

These harbors are no wake (and you are not supposed to wake boats within a certain number of feet in most states any ways) so will be trying to find out why a blind eye is being turned to the wakes being caused from the launches

I dont ever recall it being so bad (have spent months on moorings last summer and this summer) but getting waked non-stop from sunrise to 1am is not fun and making our cruising miserable when we just want to kick back, relax, and get some good sleep.

Just curious what other's experiences are?

Thanks!

Get off my lawn !

first world problems?

if it got windy would it be any different?

if you had to wait for the launch, would you be complaining about how long it was taking to get a lift ?

Im guessing the shuttle operators are doing their best to keep everyone happy and get folks to and from their boats in as little time as possible.

sorry, a lifetime of people who spend a week a year, in the harbor on a mooring, on a sailboat, bitching at me about a tiny wake has left a mark

Shouldnít you be dealing with the crappy windows on your giant Clorox bottle?

Leave the launch kids alone.

Lights outs and the biggest annoyance is the better half telling me the music is too loud on our boat.

maybe they took the feedback and are now behaving themselves. still doesnt make it right how they were acting and if the issue is in multiple harbors they have an issue with lack of training and hiring people that cannot follow simple no wake rules. welcome to my ignore list

the slips are getting waked from them too...

also consider that wakes cause more wear and tear on not only boats but docks, seawalls, and other infrastructure

its one thing to have to deal with wakes caused by wind or boats that are traveling at higher speeds outside the no wake zones versus wakes created in harbors where no wakes are allowed.

I was in Edgartown yesterday and having read this thread before I actually wasted my time looking at one of the Old Port launch's wakes. I was not surprised when the wake looked the same as it has for the past few decades....
