Good luck with that, tough market. Most I've seen are way overpriced and there's a huge backlog having one built.I'd like to go from my Cabo to a 38 Northern Bay or not even bother .

The Mary Marjorie in Rockport is on the market. Might be a little longer than the 40’ you are looking for. Also not sure on his price. But if you want his info I can pm it to you.

There is a nice jc35 in point judith well below your target price. Don't know why its listed so low, but its clean and modern and has a cockpit station. Petzhold is the agent. I think the name is endorphin.

OP: So you're looking for a pure fishing boat? Or need cruising amenities too?

I suggest having some patience. Just like center consoles, they are priced sky high.

Another option, is get an older sportfish with an inside station, and take the bridge off. It's been done on a lot of older hatteras boats.

My experience from buying a DE for 200+ in 2012 and spending 6 years making it my own is that any 35-40’ DE you want to be more than an hour offshore in will cost you close to 400K by the time all is said and done. Repairs and enhancement on a DE are measured in tens of thousands. A Major engine issue is 20K fix , an electronics upgrade even more.

i have a number of friends also who have gone into DE “cheap”, like me bringing the boat to the level they want and need s a 6 figure investment over time.

I just looked through the add and that looks like a smoking deal for that boat.

Low hour dependable power on a proven hull.

The only downside is that the JC 35 had a has a bad rep in following seas. Reach out to Door #3 here. He runs a 35' Eastern out of Newburyport and theyre the same hull.

Yeah, my boat can be a little squirelly also, but nothing the autopilot can't handle. It keeps her straight and true, as opposed to yours truly.

I wouldn't let that stop you.

Oh, and the standing rule with boats is that they are all for sale; it's just the price that varies.

This boat is interesting. $170k Canadian, so $128k USD.

I think the price is so attractive because the John Deere is so small. More of a cruising boat. Love the beam.

I like that boat a lot - can't understand the power choice though - 150 hp would make for what? n 8 knot cruise? Maybe a re-power would be worth it @ $110k out the door....

Yeah, agreed. The guy must've used it like a trawler. I wonder how much a local John Deere dealer would give for a trade in on the 150?? Could sweeten the deal big time, especially if you can get the boat for $110-115k....
