Police making arrests when no law is broken = harassment.
Thinking of the scene in The Holy Grail.... "I'm being repressed.... Help I'm being repressed!"

But it isn't his property. It's public land.

I learned a lesson a long time ago "don't F with people you don't know" I would be happy to educate you if you would like.

My money is it is his property just like in Misquamicut.

Apparently the courts disagree with you.

scout ...which one do you want to come to, the one with the private beach or my other house ? You should not assume shit. I would not throw you off if you had the right to be there. Ask me how I know he was within his rights.

Personally, I think people shouldn't trespass, but also that people shouldn't be arrested for trespassing when they are not.

Or we could just yell at each other...

I agree with this completely. The problem is you have people who assume someone is trespassing when in fact they are not. Anyone smart enough to own water front property should know the rules because someone could make it very difficult for them if they start pushing people around without a leg to stand on. Ask a good lawyer. The guy who went after the clam diggers in front of his property learned the hard way. Didn't turn out so well for him and his wallet is much lighter.

Saltwater central shows a 4 degree temp break 100 yards in front of that house. Got to be Bluefin there for sure.

And you should troll it BEFORE sunrise and after midnight for the best catches. Be sure to use your fog horn and search light to make sure you don't wind up on the beach. Safety first.

Also, squid are there in phenominal numbers and can be caught from the beach. Let the GI crowd know.

My parents owned a house very close to the house in question when I was in HS (1980's). Earlier they had owned one about 150 yards west of this location. Sorry, you buy a house next to a public beach in RI you should expect people walking along the water and shore. In my town, we have people move next to the town park & rec facilities and then complain about the noise and traffic. Huh? Anyway, it was never an issue with us. People park themselves right in front of the house (the first house was literally on the beach) and start partying, of course that would be a problem. But in all my time there I didn't ever see a security guard or an issue with people walking the beach. The public beach is mostly families, so hardly a party beach. Very strange to have a security guard. If they had some legit issues it would be understandable, but I doubt they'd be worried about a guy collecting seaweed if the guard was there to prevent robbery's or serious issues. Scout, if you know more details please share.
