Are they doing Star Island next week?

Forecast is not that bad probably don't want to do to the Windmills or the West Side of the Island, but could easily fish the beach, if you wanted to be totally protected you could go up the bay as well.

Block Island Sound:
FRI NIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt,diminishing to 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft. SAT...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts
up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft.

Coastal Waters:
.FRI NIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
5 to 8 ft.
.SAT...SW winds 10 to 15 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt in the afternoon.

The morning looks fishable inshore, but still in puke territory. In the afternoon you are going to need a bigger boat.

Those venturing to block will need to rig for heavy weather.

The wind forecast keeps undulating between 15 and 40mph winds.

Noaa forecast paints a horribly incomplete picture of what you'll experience out there. Use other sources!!!!!

I use buoyweather, windy, and reefcast. I also look at the different models and usually pick the average of the worst.

But it won't be a day for small boats. Probably small craft warnings will fly. Bigger boats should be ok, but it won't be calm.

The best conditions will be in the morning along the beaches outside of point judith and in the sheltered areas behind fishers and gardeners. Still, you have to get there....

it looks like this years winner could come from Jamestown Bridge or Newport, looks like a longer fishing window over there.

It's 5:00 AM till Noon? BI Sound says 10-15 from Midnight and probably through the AM. It's not going to be nice but no reason you can't fish near the beach, especially if you run straight West in the AM early get behind Long Island then it would be at your back on the way home. You could also go up the bay fish as long as you want come back up hug the coast then get into some stuff for about 10-15 minutes while you go around Point Judith Light. Unless your in a skiff it's fishable, bring your rain gear.

Now if you want to fish BI because that is where you get your biggest fish that's a different story especially the West or South side.
