Going to Menemsha is on my bucket list. For the sole purpose of recreating Quint's final departure. I'll need a cameraman.

I liked it the old way. Call the morning of, you know what weather is like. Now you will have to book in advance. Be lucky to get in.

not sure what I think about it. since edgartown went to dockwa, the moorings book up almost instantly for summer weekends (notwithstanding this year's glitch that caused all kinds of issues). I think a lot of these reservations are from people who figure they'd rather book 5 weekends even if they may only use 2 or 3. used to be much easier to go over and grab a mooring on a whim. of course this year I did the same thing...booked multiple weekends and not really sure I'll be able to use them all. my guess is menemsha will be similar...the summer (weekends anyway) will book up immediately (especially w/that cancellation policy) and if you have not planned your trip before 'opening day' and are not online right when reservations open, you're going to be SOL. just a guess, and I'm not sure that there's a problem with that, just offering a different perspective. thanks for posting though...I hadn't heard this (must have unsubscribed from dockwa emails).

well that's a bummer. DockWa is taking the adventure & whim of cruising away...

With a 24 ft boat I unfortunately have had to eat the Edgartown 40$ mooring/cancellation fee. Though they are pretty good about accommodating "day of" folks, have put me on private moorings in the past few years. I wonder if the bulkhead in Menemsha will be considered a slip on Dockwa, happy to see their cancellation is 48 hours, should be enough time to gauge the weather.
