Default Too much backlighting!

Do you guys have rocker switches with backlit labels and pilot lights that are EXTREMELY dim? I have Carling contura switches on my boat and the backlighting in the label window was way too bright, so its been disconnected. I still have way too much light spill from the pilot lights while i'm running in the dark and it messes with my night vision. The shape of my console reflects right in my face

I would like to re-use the existing switch panel in my boat since its only a year old, and just replace the individual switches and have custom labeled actuators. Everything I've seen on other boats is the same.

Our red LED switches have the least bright light. Hard to quantify, but probably about half the intensity of white lights, and a quarter the intensity of blue.

The other thing we'll do for customers if they are worried about this is place an additional switch that triggers all the backlights... so you can toggle them on and off as you wish.

Lastly, we can add a dimmer into your panel. We can dim the backlights, but not the indicator lights (b/c they share the load's source, and you don't want to dim the load).

We can also custom engrave the bottom indicator light lenses to be smaller than normal, to let less light out, but there is nothing we can do about the little bit of bleed coming from under the switch.

Some of these ideas can be done using your existing panel... some we'd have to re-make it and re-wire it probably.

Give us a shout if you want to discuss these options: 843 297-8348

thanks!
