Default Question about VJD2 Carling Rocker Switch (10 pole)

I'm getting ready to replace the 4 carling switches on my skiff.

Nav/Anchor light switch is a VJDA 8 pole (3 on left 5 on right when viewed from back). Below, I have highlighted the terminals that have connections to them.

I reviewed your Carling Switches Explained thread and found that your latest post examined the VJD2, which is the closest switch to the one being replaced that I have found.

If I'm understanding this correctly, I can replace the VJDA switch with the VJD2 switch above, and swap the wire connectors 1 for 1, leaving terminals 8, 3 and 10 empty, and the new switch will function correctly. I will simply not have the independent back light.

Can you please confirm the above will work for my application?

Second question:

My livewell is wired to a 7 terminal switch (on-off-on) such as the one below, I have highlighted the terminals that have wire connections.

The UP function of the switch does nothing. The DOWN function supplies power to the livewell. Can I simply discard the connection to terminal 6, replace the switch with a standard ON-OFF using the connections to 7, 4 and 5?

In the below image the wire connection to 7 would stay at 7, and 4 would connect to 3 and 5 would connect to 2.

Would love it if you could confirm or correct my thinking prior to my placing the order.

tesilential : Not if you want the lights to work. See in the VJD2 diagram where terminals 8 and 10 light up the lights? They lights are not dependent AND independent... they are one or the other. So in that case, they lights will never come on.

I don't know why you have a T10 on that switch, I really have never seen that. It might be an option where the lamps are dependent, but don't share a common negative?? If so, why don't you just do use the dependent light switch? https://newwiremarine.com/product/on...ependent-lamp/

Yes, I'd change it to an ON-OFF, but 5 goes to 2, and 4 goes to T3 on the new switch.

... if up does not thing it probably used to be a recirc pump that no longer works!

Thanks for the response Eric.

I'm finally placing the order today, decided to go with the etched Contura's with backlighting instead.
