Default Cobia chumming Rods

Long time lurker but first post. Getting ready for cobia season and looking to add a few more rods to pair with Penn Squalls 20s. Any recommendations on rods. Trying not to break the bank and keep it below $100/rod. Thanks

I've had great luck with many of the different shimano rods. Some you can get right around $100 and a few are around $120-130 if you're willing to spend just a little bit more for a nice quality rod. I believe the Teramar series is what they are called?

Ugly Stik Tiger Lite, plenty of backbone and solid tip action, no real reason to spend a bunch of money on rods for this style of fishing, just need workhorses

While I do use the ugly stick rod for my spinning gear (cobia rods) ---
Ande 20-50's have been a very good performing (hold up well over time) for uses like your asking about
https://www.tackledirect.com/ande-as...nd-up-rod.html
( bet the 2040 rod would work as well)
I also used these same rods to troll #1 planners for spanish for many many yrs! ( rockfish gear too)
(I would bump up to squall 30's for cobes-- only fish in bay that has stripped all the line off any of my reels)

I have one Teramar that I use for chumming and I love it. It's a 7' H Northeast model. I keep hoping to find them on sale somewhere so I can justify getting more.

I just picked up two Penn Battle 6000 series reels, and ordered two Ugly Stick Tiger Jigging Rods from Amazon. Got the reels from Fish Bone Knifes for $80 a piece, he's getting rid of all his fishing equipment at really low prices. The rods where also $80 from Amazon,

I use a spread of Okuma Cedros rods. They are pretty stout, but they deal with all of the by-catch quickly. I don't think they are much more than $100.

Ugly stik bigwater rods are less than $70. Good action, good strength. I have a couple medium 6' I use to troll for Spanish.

7' med heavy or 6'6" heavy are both $69 on tackle direct. Probably same price at bass pro. I think its a good buy. I personally feel you don't need expensive rod for chumming. Expensive rods are for sight-casting.
