I use this app as well. It has been great. I paid the $10 or whatever to get the premium version on my phone. Has a lot of great features, but it is also a great backup if your eletronics go out. Just need to make sure you keep the area where you're boating downloaded to your phone in case you don't have service.

I'm fishing out of Little Creek in a 24 albemarle (TUNACITY) and willing to buddy boat/stay in touch out there.

Sent it to the Norfolk again this past Sunday looking for the water but it was mixed with the cold when we got there couldn't find anything much over 58°. Ended up with a couple seabass and a few other deep water critters for a full cooler of edibles.

Hey all this will be my first year on my own boat to be going out offshore and wanted to see if ya'll had any good pointers or tips for a long term fisherman but don't have a huge experience with offshore fishing other then going out around a dozen times on friends boats.

Make sure your equipment is well maintained and you have all of the appropriate safety gear and a plan and a backup plan if things go wrong. A buddy boat is a good idea.

I’m gonna sell 3 accurate 50’s if anyone’s interested I’ll hook up a local. BX2-50 in silver and a pair of black DPX2-50’s. Has JB hollow and great for deep dropping or trolling. 9.9/10 custom handle and serviced.

Atlantic Tackle in Oc sells by the case. You may be able to buy a case from hook em and cook em as well if you get an order in with them now.

In my limited offshore experience I have always tried to get lines in around sunrise, but I have been successful at all times of the day. The run out to the Big Rock in my Albemarle 24 only took about an hour and a half so it was no big deal to get out there by sunrise.

We are going to leave from Cape Charles and k5robnp 's Albemarle 27 cruises at 20 knots. So its looking like a 3.5 hour run. To get lines in at sunrise we would have to leave at 2:30 AM. Do we just say the hell with it and leave at 6 AM or some more sensible time? That would have lines in at 9:30, get in 8 hours trolling and be back home before sunset.

Overnighter is a possibility and would allow to fish both sunrise, sunset. But we don't have any gear or experience fishing for swords and unsure what else we'd do all night.

I understand the variability of the water conditions that time of year. I renewed my Hilton's Offshore SST package and will also consider buying a pre-trip analysis by ROFFS or one of the other providers.

Don’t stop trolling too early on your overnighters.
