Default 2nd Annapolis Police Fish Camp 2018

I am looking for volunteers for Tuesday August 14th for the second summer Annapolis City Police Fish Camp.

This program helps foster a stronger relationship between the community and officers. It is a week long camp where officers spend time with the kids fishing. We are trying to help get the kids out on the bay for one day. (other days they fish from shore and local ponds)

Fishing would be from 8am until about noon from Sandy Point State Park. If you would like to volunteer to help this program you need at least a 22' boat with all appropriate safety gear, some bottom fishing gear, and a heart to serve those that protect and serve us, along with kids from the city of Annapolis. Each boat would take an officer and 2 or 3 middle school-aged kids. Bait and ice will be provided for by the Police Dept through donations (events like the Boat Yard Bar and Grill tournament have supported this camp. Also Anglers and AllTackle have supported the program as well).

You do not need to be an expert fisherman. We will help make the day a success. Kids enjoy the opportunity to be on a boat on the bay and it is a joy to see their excitement.

Hopefully the bay will be clear of debris by then. However if not, we can focus on just bottom fishing around the bridge.

Please call or text 410-533-1435 to volunteer

If you or someone else need a mate, let me know.
I should be back in the USA then and already plan on being up in MD that day.

Most boats will just bottom fish around the Bay Bridge. Kids fish all week but this day they are most interested in just getting out on a boat. Catching spot, perch, etc. excite them enough. However for those that do try to go for rockfish, there will be others to help put you on fish.

It is a pretty long run from Breezy Point to Sandy Point State Park. However if you are still interested, please call or text 410-533-1435. I think I only need one, maybe two more boats. (even then it is good to have back-ups in case someone cannot make it last minute or has mechanical failure.
