Default debris Chesapeake Bay Sunday 7/29

ok, I was in OCMD this weekend but coming back over the CBBridge there were big tree trunks/logs floating near Sandy point. A lot of them.
Anyone hear the story on these?

it's a mess! basically couldnt get out of the Severn River into the bay yesterday without risking a lower unit or hull damage. huge trees, complete tires with rims, something that looked like a washing machine, or dishwasher! i also heard reports of bloated livestock...ugh.

Well damn and I was planning to drop the boat back in at Sandy Point today with the hopes of idling back to my creek.

That is gross. Wonder what the new mayor is doing about it?

Not a boat in ego alley is going to piss off some bar owners and restaurants.

It was incredible to see the volume of trees flowing under the bridge. Obviously this is from the incredible amount of rain. I'd image the volume of this comes from the opening of the Conowingo Dam?

Do those folks think they are going to clean that up with a few rakes or are they just picking out select items of value?

Various degrees of FUBAR throughout. My slip in Fells Point resembled Annapolis harbor last week.
Needed to strap on a diaper to get down the Patapsco river Sat.

We were heading down the South River Sunday but turned around before passing Thomas Point, just too much Floating debris so we did a 180 and headed back up the South River which was clear.

The upper bay looks as bad as I have ever seen. This was from Saturday.

Yeah, that was a nightmare trying to pick our way through that. I must have bumped a submerged log, there was a bit of wood jammed in the speedo inlet tube in my lower unit.

Fished today out of Kentmorr. A lot of debris. Saw countless logs int he 8-10' range and a good amount that were pretty much trees, 20' or so and 3' diameter. That said, we were literally the only boat out fishing at the bay bridge tonight and limited in a half hour.

yeah...local crabs likely done for the next few weeks.

also read that a conservation group had just two weeks ago dropped the first batch of oysters as part of a 50 MILLION oyster restoration project on the Severn...hope they survive.

Well, it also sucks for anyone looking to do a sea trial of a late season purchase.

https://www.chesapeakebaymagazine.co...er-flow-danger

It is vitally important that anglers and boaters avoid the area downstream of the dam as heavy flows and accompanying marine debris – both submerged and superficial – can pose a serious threat to people and vessels,” Maryland Natural Resources Secretary Mark Belton said. “We expect the issue to continue through the weekend and ask that people steer clear of the Upper Bay until it is safe to navigate and recreate.”

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has called on state agencies to support Harford and Cecil Counties, including the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

Port Deposit Mayor, Wayne L. Tome Sr., called for a voluntary evacuation in Port Deposit.
