Figured I'd start this up again for 2018. Looks like they are inbound. Time to sharpen the gaffs! Hopefully the water will warm quickly and June 1 gets here in a hurry. Good luck this year!

This is from the rules of the Monarch cobia classic;
1. All registered anglers and vessels must comply with all applicable US Federal and Virginia laws regarding fishing licenses, permits, size limits, bag limits, etc. Infractions of any of these rules will result in disqualification. All anglers participating in the Tournament must also have a valid Virginia saltwater fishing license that can be obtained at www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses.
2. All anglers, captains and guides fishing for cobia must obtain a Recreational Cobia Permit from the Commission and report all harvest and cobia fishing activity. Reporting can be done online through the Saltwater Journal or using forms provided by the VMRC.
So from my interpretation, every team member needs an individual license? Blanket license is no good and every team member needs Cobia permit as well?
VMRC says only the captain needs the permit/report

Still a pocket of cold water sitting on the NC/VA line according to SST. Wouldn't be surprised if they migrate offshore and turn right into the bay without showing in any numbers around the coast line. My guess is 7-10'days before the first va fish is caught
