Everything is locked up but should be open soon. Low tides have not helped. Digging mud last two times i've gone out. I still have live green crabs in a cooler that are almost 2 weeks old now.

Surely that cold spell has pushed some northern fish down south. I've had something come up on Sat but weather permitting on Sunday plan to head south from wachapreague inlet

I'd normally be heading down to Wachapreague for a week of duck hunting in another week or 2. I didn't make any plans as yet because I figured it would locked up. Last I heard, Folly Creek was thick, solid ice as far as one could see.

If you make it out and don't mind, I'd be interested to hear a report on conditions and if you see much in the way of ducks on your way out & back.

Good luck fishing!

Will do.... At one point in time in my life shooting ducks & geese was ALL MOST as important as breathing but not so much anymore. Supposed to be 60 by Friday & rain ice should be gone. I hope

Hopefully they aren't past. The bulk of the run that made it inside 3mi in the DE/MD waters was a few weeks ago. That said, best run in recent memory with a lot of big fish.
iFishMD and heycharlie like this.

I know exactly how you feel. These days I do it mostly because I still love to see my dogs work. Last year we spent 5 days between Saxis, Folly & Wachapreague and since we had a couple newbs to the area and a 14 YO with us, I only uncased my gun 2x. I just ran the boat and worked the dogs. Plus I'm starting to feel like I've killed 2 lifetimes worth of buffies.

No doubt advancing age has something to do with it to

I will say.... I've had the good fortune to waterfowl hunt all over the country over the years, and that area still ranks as one of my very favorites. And it has nothing to do with the heft of the strap at the end of the day.

Yea wachapreague is a cool little town. Not the same since they closed the old marina. Willis warf is open but big chunks of floating ice several clam operations there they may have kept it open. My buddy said today wachapreague was still solid at his house by vims
