Curious as well. I know last year people were catching them at the target ship.

Cobia fishing in August with Capt Zach Hoffman. For sight casting I am planning on using a 7'6" St. Croix MH with a Penn Clash 6500 and 40lb braid. For chunking I am lost. Options are a Avet MX on a rod I use in trophy rock season spooled with 40lb braid. Other option is a heaver setup with roller tip I use for smaller tuna chunking and has an Avet LX with 65lb Braid and mono topshot. Advice?

I seemed to fish all the super hot ones last week, did not really know how much heat /humidity affected me till Yesterday morning. I spent day on recliner - didn't even want to leave house.

Did not see a cobe all of last week! Did hear of a 47 caught up near Rapp on Friday. Jerks were anchored in Channel and complained on radio as sailboats (and others) went thru area.

Grandview was DEAD yesterday. I'm done over there for the season, probably should of stopped while ago. Two slobs were caught on southern bay piers, OV and Lynnhaven. That gets me thinking.....

You should enjoy fishing with Zack, his new boat looks really nice, most of the guides that I have fished with provide rods and tackle, not saying to leave yours at home but I when I fished with Zack his rods and setups were on point...... Good luck!!

I can second this.

Also, went looking Monday and saw lots of rays, but only one Cobia - went down pretty fast and never a chance to throw to him. Had some clams with us so ended up spadefishing, did well there.

Great fish! We never saw anything close to that and between Saturday fishing and a Sunday tiki run out with the wife, no water that flat!

Hey guys, i made it out of Point Lookout MD last thursday (7/7) and headed south. Spotted two rats just into VA. One was in a tide line and the other in middle open water hanging with a group of rays. There are thousands of rays out. Everywhere. Kept running south and spotted one north of buoy 42. Then ran out of time for the day.
Tried again Friday (7/8) but couldnt find the tide line south of the VA line and the NW wind was too much to risk the run. Bounced around in the rough current line south of the target ships and spotted a couple logger heads and plenty of crabs...got excited but there were none on top that day.

I'll try another run out of PLO when the wind and my work schedule cooperate. If anybody wants to buddy boat please contact me.

Great day today. Fished off Cape Charles. While running over there spotted one on top off York Spit. It ate a bucktail and was 44". No exaggeration, once we got to the deep water off Cape Charles we didn't go 5 minutes without seeing one. We'd be fighting fish and casting at others swimming by the boat. They were everywhere. 2nd fish we kept was 50" and 54 lbs.
