Default Flatties Sightings

Anyone make it out to the Virgina coastal bays for some flounder fishing? My Uncle and I are targeting the flatties in Wachapreague this week, and were curious if anyone has made it down there recently.

Hey everyone. I'm new to fishing for flounder and new to fishing the bay. Any Idea what's biting in the bay right now, where to go, and I would appreciate any tips on bait and tackle. I live in the Richmond area so Im looking for a spot that might be a little closer than Wachapreague. Thanks

There might still be some shad hanging around Richmond, and fishing for trophy Rockfish is just about as good as it gets in the rivers and bay.

Hopefully, all this rain doesn't mess with the flounder bite...just hope the water is clear.

There were some being caught before this last cold spell/endless rain up this way, so I would assume they would be biting down there, too. Once the water cleans up (rain stops) I plan on hitting the canal for them.

Yeah, the water is still pretty muddy from the rain, and has definitely shut down the bite. Hopefully, things will get better as the week progresses.

Had a couple of open days lately But as stated earlier, Crazy swings in weather have prevented me from looking for them. I even pulled my minnow traps out of water till things look better.

Crappiefisherman...r u in Wach now? Sounds like there is a little bite but the tide isn't the best AND there is no sun to warm the water. If u could pair an outgoing with sun u stand a better chance. Sounds like if u can make it out front the drum and striper bite is good.

I was gonna try for the 1st time 2nite up here in Chinco but low 50s and drizzle aint no fun...I m a fair wx fishermen.

Yeah, I'm there now...and getting my striper stuff ready. Yesterday, we had slightly better weather, and managed to get at three. The only saving grace was they were all over 18, and fat

Wachapreague has gone down hill the last few years. Back in the 90' it was outstanding flounder fishing. Its been bad ever since. At least in mid april.

Yeah, I'm beginning to suspect the same...going to need a better spring flounder spot...not looking forward to all the running aground as I learn new water (we usually use my Uncle's hoat, which drwas a lot more water, but handles a chop better than my skiff) ;P

Seahawk is the tackle shop on the southbound side of 13 about 2 miles above the VA line. Trust me that NOBODY is better down there as Matt charters down there and has been doing well. He is a wealth of info and freely gives. He will probably point u to Gargatha or Follies.

Fished Gargatha last Saturday. Water was cold and dirty pretty much everywhere there. Only managed a throw back. Only a few caught polling others fishing there.

I know Capt. Steve's well, and usually fish Chincoteague in the latter half of summer. Checked out Folly today, but it is a total wash out right now...next week looks like it will be better :P

Thanks for the tip on Seahawk. I will check them out.

At least we caught a few on Tuesday.
