Fished Wed night and Thur am (1-2 Jan 14). Tried to be like the Wicked Tuna boys and chunk em up. Grabbed a flat of bunker and set anchor in a fishy looking area SE of the CLT. Could not get a single bait out as the dogs swarmed us big time. Even baits right on the surface got hit in seconds. Hundreds of dogs on top, middle, and bottom. Kept chunking but just put some metal jigs out thinking the dogs would not touch them. Wrong. They ate jigs just as much. I have never seen dogs school on the surface before, I always thought they liked the bottom. Here is what the screen looked like all night. Guess I will not be guest starring on Wicked Tuna anytime soon.

Trolled flat calm seas Thur am but no love on the tuna. Didn't even get a striper hit. Still had a great time getting out. I do believe every hour spent on the water adds an hour to your lifespan.

BTW, I love to hate that show. Love the fishing but hate the made up drama. I'll be watching again in Feb.

Fished today from clt off to about 40miles. Seen thousands of stripers on the surface in 120ft of water. Never did see any tuna or hear of any

Went out to CLT and southeast from there. We found nothing, didn't hear anything going on either.

I heard 40 miles east of Rudy was a pile of 'em. . . Haven't seen it with my own eyes though.

Doesn't appear that the commercial sector has done well either. So far only, .1 metric ton has been caught so far.

8 days ago now was what I was told... Who knows. The Bluefin unicorns are out there somewhere. . .
Longliners aren't seeing them either but they're fishing the east side primarily.
