David, I would set up near the Rte 90 bridge and try your luck there. I would, but I don't want a "grey/brown suit" to scuff up the finish on my boat.
Sharks are near Rt 90 on Isle of Wight? Thats right near my place. Heck, I could take the pontoon to do that.
West or East Span or either?

Years ago there was a decent mako caught in the OC Inlet. When paddling from the homes near Sunset across to Assateague to surf the wedge we would often see decent size sharks.

I assume they were a sand tiger, dusky, etc in the 4-6' range the two times I've seen a shark near there cruising on the surface by the 90 (and no they weren't a dolphin). If bait is present, then predators will be present as well. I saw them on the East span both times but I hardly ever go to the West span.
Most say I'm full of Sh!^ but I nearly fell into the creek in front of the power plant at the back of the Indian River Inlet in September of 2009 while pulling crab traps. Roughly forty seconds later I saw an 8'+ bull shark swimming back towards the power plant apprx. fifty yards in front of the boat. Assuming it was on a straight course NW along the channel I would have fallen right on top of it (close enough, not directly).

Also come summer, can check some of the the commercial fish places like Martin’s or SeaBorn on commercial harbor or some of the marina fish cleaning tables and try get some tuna carcasses for shark bait
