Default Cobia 2020

I know it’s only February but this mild winter has us chomping to get in the tower. Making our annual run up to Greentops to grab some gear. Always looking at the jigs like a kid at Christmas even though we have more than we will ever use!! Well here’s to a safe and good season to everyone!!

They are here! We caught two this afternoon sight casting before the storms rolled in. The small one hit a bucktail and we pitched a live croaker to the bigger one.

PS--I know we should not have lipped that big fish--we were just in a hurry to get her back in the water and she was going nuts. Also a little adrenaline running from our first cobia of the season.

Had one of my best days memorial day last year, 7 fish over 45" before 11am. Motor crapped out opening week and I had to sit out the whole season from the sidelines.
Bout to drop 10k on a motor, see yall out there.

All the victories we've had as far as bunker go, I hope its gonna be a good one.

I had to sit out last season due to a cracked transom and busted lower unit. Got everything fixed then my motor blew up. Not a good year last year. Got another motor “used” fingers crossed everything works and I can fish this season.
Best of luck to everyone!!!!

Is that official? I didn't think they voted on it until April or May. 6/1 is a Monday which seems like a weird day to start.

It's on the 2020 regulation card, so I guess so.

What I saw for 2020 said open season. TBD.

Maybe VMRC has conflicting information out.

Heading to cape charles june 3rd and called Chris's bait and tackle only to find out oceans east just bought them. Said they are pushing hard to be open by june 1st. If they're not, is there any other place in the area to get eels and fiddler's? Really not trying to drive to seahawk or across the bay bridge.
also hoping the water heats up in 3 weeks! Seeing A few cobia are just starting to show up off NC.

I doubt they wouldn't at least be selling bait by first week of June. Maybe not the full store. Worst case is get in the boat and make the run down to Lynnhaven and get the bait via boat. You're looking for cobia anyway and the mouth of the bay will be holding fish.

That's an idea, never fished that side though, always been successful on latimer and nautilus shoals.

If we catch just 1/4 of the cobia we caught last year it'll still be a good season. Last September was ridiculous.

I may give it a try as well. First year without a tower. Haven’t chummed much so I’ll be scouting spots
