Thumbs up Offshore norfolk canyon-virginia beach 2020

Starting new thread for 2020. The other offshore one is now exclusively Chincoteague and north. Tight lines and good luck to everyone for this upcoming season. If the weather stays like it has we will be starting early...

Hello all, I'm looking to make new contacts for shared costs offshore trips. If your going offshore and have room for one, I would be willing to help with the costs to come along to fish. I do have some offshore experience and I learn fast. Not one to sit there and watch you work I wanna jump in and help. Interested in all parts of the trip from pre planning to wash down and processing meat. I own a 21ft challenger and small skiff for shallows but looking to broaden my fishing reach. Im also often avaiable with just a day or twos notice if you have someone cancel. If that's something your possibly interested in let me know and I can give you my contact info for future trips. Thanks for your time Jim

marlin like my boat-spread something no I don't catch them like the tournament sport boats do BUT I'm not fishing for them. My riggers have 4 release clips the top is for wide trackers then longs & shorts & the bottom clip I always pull moldcraft pink squids followed by a green or white squid with a hook in it ..i also pull blue-white Islander seastar or mistress from rod tips between my flats & shorts. Also ALWAYS at least one of my flats is a naked ballyhoo !!! Placement depends on seas but usually the squid chain is in front of my flats ..if the marlin don't get hooked on the squid chain they usually switch to the naked ballyhoo flatilne or the smoking mistress or seastar behind the flats ..last season we cought 3 blues & got hooks in maybe 10 whites & the season before got hooks in 2 blues & around 15 whites . I don't own a dredge & my boat is an old formula f233 with a single 300 Suzuki .Hope this gives ya some ideas

Thank you. I'm in a 23 sportsman. Just got into offshore last year and done pretty good with mahi and tuna. Even got a 60lb mahi on our 4th trip offshore ever. Hoping to get into some bill fish this year like whites, blues, and swords. Thanks for the advise.

Doing some work on the boat and should be ready by May. How are the tuna around the Fingers during that time? Would it be better to wreck fish til later?

I caught a mahi inshore of 50 fathoms last year, fingers area. I tried a couple times but that area just hasnít produced for me.

Iíd be watching the sst closely and going where the water is. Should be some good breaks in May.

I suppose by now everyone saw Jake Hiles new state record Bluefin. In only a short time they will be directly off of our coast.
