I'm off all week, headed to Poormans Monday. Not sure if we will work our way in or what. I"m really looking for Mahi more than tuna.

Damn Dude, I sure hope you and the big cat boat are OK, and you are still able to get out there and get into the fish.
All the best.

I learned not to trust Garmin or my last year's tracks! Thought I was in the clear and just was putting the hammer to head to the 50 fathom line between Washington and Norfolk Canyon on the 650 line when the offshore trip became an onshore adventure including beach combing and entertaining eco turists. No one hurt except for captains pride.. Cat took multiple pulls from bow and stern cleats that broke the towboat's line once. Got to give a SHOUT OUT to Rob and his crew from Tow Boats US. for coming down from OC to help get us off on a Sunday.

got lucky on a ball north of Poor Mans today. I could not believe this one was all by itself on that ball. It was fighting us before my son gaffed it and pulled it in the boat long enough that if there were others, they would have showed themselves. We chunked some more after and nothing came around.
We stopped by Jackspot on the way and trolled for an hour and a good sized Spanish grabbed a wide tracker. Never had a Spanish hit a wide tracker before.

Default Refreeze thawed ballihoo

Since I managed to thaw out 50$ of ballihoo still sealed Anyone recommend refreezing for a week or just keep real cold on ice?

Thanks Eric

Glad to see a mahi. That Spanish may have been a cero mackerel. That's awfully far off the beach for a Spanish

Cero mackeral

Left IRI at 2:30 yesterday morning bound for the Baltimore. Lines in just before sunrise and had our first one on by 5:30 right on the west wall in 500 feet, it hit a purple wide tracker. Lines back out and worked around that area for a bit until be decided to head over to the east wall. Ended up having the purple wide tracker go down around 9am in about 800 feet over on the east wall Up by the tip. Worked that side and up to the tip For a bit and started heading back to where we started the day. On our way over we doubled up on two more on a zucchini sterling bar and a blue/white TNT Hoo Head on the shotgun around noon. Got them both in and headed for the barn finishing 4/4 on yft for the day. All bites were in 69 degrees

Crap shoot you've got nothing to lose. I've done it with Baitmasters and it was fine the next time out. Have seen it go the other way and after thawing the second time it was mush that would not stay on the hook for 10 minutes before falling apart.

Fished out of OI with a buddy last Saturday. Acres of scattered YFT chasing flyers and they didn't want a trolled bait and we didn't have a kite. Watching so many tunas busting the surface and airing out while you drive through them without a bite is pretty maddening.

Found a weed line and boxed some bailers and gaffers to make our day a little brighter.

Thanks I'll give it a try - I have a vacuum sealer. Just cleaned up a couple of 15" Spanish Mackeral I caught for Pitch Baits next trip.

Never had a problem refreezing as long as it was kept on ice and out of the water when it was out. Only time it was a problem was if it got warm or sat in water when it was out prior to refreezing.

I also refreeze ballyhoo. I have two boxes in my chest freezer. Virgin ballyhoos that are the first pack to get thawed and used. And then backup packs that are the second or third packs to thaw out on a trip. My logic is get your best baits out there first thing and get some fish in the box. If the bite is good then you can use the older packs where it might not matter as much. High quality baitmasters packs can do just fine thawed and refrozen but are probably more prone to getting washed out and such. Brining and refreezing is an interesting idea that may help with that.

2/4 on YFT, good catch of tiles including a 30lb Golden.

I’ll have pics up later. We try and keep our social media pages pretty updated.
