Default Newport News/Hampton spec/rock reports??

Gonna try some light tackle fishing in this area on Sunday. Curious about fishing reports for Nansemond, Elizabeth rivers and Ragged, Mulberry and Hog Island for specs reds rock etc. Haven't really seen anything on here about that. Anyone fishing these areas. We will be in 24 center so can't get in real skinny water. Might also try to fill cooler with some spot as well so any intel on them would also be greatly appreciated.

A little birdy might have told me he has seen specs in gent Norfolk ,ocien view rocks ,rudees and lynnhaven fish high or top water with mirrolures... Don't waste your time on the southern Elizabeth river for specs, lots of white perch and nasty looking rockfish. Western ER might have specs... Have seen Spanish jumping around Norfolk to crany island. Haven't seen a spec in the southern ER since the power plant closure. Rocks and white perch took over.

Well the weather wasn't what was expected and neither was the fishing. Instead of the forecasted NE wind, it was SE blowing right up the river and with an outgoing tide in the morning yesterday, that made for some sloppy seas. Tried a field of old pilings of Fort Eustis, a lighthouse structure near Kingsmill, and old wharf near Kingsmill, some areas in the Warwick River, Deep Creek, and others. Nada. Fishing was tough in the wind and keeping boat positioned was all but impossible. Marked quite well near the new power lines (which I thought was still going through the courts but nope, they are built!) but jigging and trolling attempts produced zero. To top it all of, we lost an expensive fly rod overboard. Wish I could report some success but it eluded us yesterday.
