Default Macs - How long do they stay?

This is my first year fishing for macs. Curious how much longer they will be in the area between South River and Chesapeake Beach? Any predictions?

Anyone having any success south of back river? Cbbt area?

I feel like the reports have have drastically slowed. But it is midweek

I tried Cape Henry and southern CBBT about 10 days ago and got skunked, and only saw one or two other boats trying.

Depending on the wind, I may try for the last time on Sunday, north of TPL. If you can find the birds they are plentiful, trolling may be another story. I have seen a couple reports where people are still getting them, hopefully we just need a couple days of sun to hold them.

Thanks. Was hoping to get out early next week and try trolling once more. Willing to head to Chesapeake Beach area but not much farther south.

I caught a handful in rather short order mid bay last weekend.

They were all puking up anchovies.

where do you live? We're only expected to see a low in the low 60's here mid bay.

I'm on the eastern shore by wachapreague 40s was what the weather man said earlier in the week. I loaded up on macs earlier in the season & got plenty but if I was planning on going I'd check out the lower bay & beyond thread hey Charlie & those guys are on top of the macs

Like Timex stated, cooler nights send them running.. Most have left already.. ( several weeks ago) Odd weather pattern has allowed a few to stay around but they are VERY scattered.. ( we are not even getting 1 person limit ) fishing mostly spot now.. wish I still had my skinny water boat... as it is hard for me to find days I trust offshore .. ( 2-3 weeks! again, due to odd weather pattern) ( my weather guy calls it a log jam)

In the mid bay at Thomas Point last week, we didn't see anyone fishing for them anymore. The accounts of catching them have all but disappeared. very suddenly, it seems that the Spaniards have slipped out.

I guess I can hijack my own thread... how is the striper trolling these days? As we wait for the big boys to show up, what and how is everyone targeting right now in the middle Bay?

I picked up two macs and a striper last Friday trolling the up the Patuxent River from the bay. Macs were 15 inches and the striper was 21.
