I haven't done it since about 2008 but a buddy goes twice a year....they usually walk to the beach! (I don't know what marina he stays at though)

IIRC, I stayed at the Rudee Inlet Station Marina (transient) one year on my way to Florida. Convenient to the inlet but I don't know much more about the area or marina.

I cruise by the docks all the time but unfortunately I've never tied up there. The only number i could pull up was this one (757) 422-2999 its rudee inlet station marina its by Rudee Restaurant and Cabana bar. Its about 500 feet past the bridge. I've seen boats tied up to the first spots just inside the bridge but sorry i don't know the name. I think the signs say you can call em on marine 68, but that one I can't remember 100%.
Not much help sorry.

link for the station:

In the back of rudees towards the museum .basically back left side . There's a public boat ramp with a little bit of a dock, never seen anyone leave there boat there nor have I .You will have a good 3-4 blocks to walk and a bridge to cross before your at fifth Street.

Owls Creek boat ramp has about 125' of dock that is seldom used. I don't know if there's any time limit for docking there.
It's right next to the Va Marine Science Museum so you could probably catch the shuttle to the beach there.

I'm sure Rudees has transient slips, try Fishermans Wharf it's right next to Rudees. You do not want to stay overnight at the owls creek ramp

Rudee Inlet Station marina is great. Dock master Bailey is fantastic and will take care of you 757.422.2999. Short 5 minute walk to boardwalk and beach. Don't miss Big Sams for breakfast and Rudees for lunch or dinner on swinging tables outside. We'll be there this weekend as well.

Enjoy,
Scott

I stayed at the fishing center fuel dock in a 27’ cc earlier this summer. First marina on the right after entering the inlet and going under the bridge.

I stayed there overnight on the boat maybe 6 weeks ago. I agree super nice people, very friendly. My issue was the lack of a dedicated bathroom for the marina. There is a bathroom in the restaurant people can use but it was not open in the morning, when it is really needed.
