Default Beware 64th Ramp Virginia Beach

Went today to launch my skiff at First Landing State Park. Concessionaires with jet skis and kayaks literally had 75% of ramp space tied up for their business. What a cluster. No regard for anyone else to exercise their right to public access. Five kayaks abreast on the double ramp with no one in them or near them, Jet ski business operator tied up the other ramp fueling his ski. Beach access close by for the kayaks, jet ski could be fueled by the nearby dock. What the hell are these idiots thinking? Rant over. Summer in VB, you can have it.

I used to use that ramp on occasion when I lived right around the corner. That place can be ridiculous, especially on the weekend. Ramps are short and shallow as well.

Too many morons on rentals down there for me. We've shifted from the narrows to the inlet sandbar

Pics? That would probably help solve the problem. Private company using public space for profit?

Did you call Game & Inland Fisheries? That would be my FIRST call!

Sad state of affairs when the PUBLIC ramps get like that AND folks making money off the PUBLIC SPACE!

Regards,

Did write a letter to the State Parks. I assume they had cognizance over the ramp within a state park.

This same thing happened on the Rapp at city docks in Fredericksburg. Found out the guy was given a permit. He blocked the parking lot so you could not get around him to the empty gravel lot , along with blocking the ramp. We managed to launch, but pulling out was a major pain, actually came close to being an MMA throw down. Haven't been back since.

We used to use that ramp quite a bit a few years back, before the retal trailer moved in. It can get pretty congested without that headache adding to it. Ramp was always questionable as well very short, pulling out putting in at high tide was always a pain.
The narrows also doesnt seem to be as convienient as it used to be, always slammed and lots of jelly's need to find another place to hang out. any suggestions?

Dredge and dredge pipe blocking a good portion of the sand bar and channels surrounding it.
It all may be gone in a week or so.

Not sure if state parks are DGIF ? but if its a DGIF landing ,, Send a email clearly defining your issues, they reply quickly .. And seem to get things done!

Default 64th St

I have yet to get a response back, nor did I expect to. Haven't been back there and will wait for after Labor Day when I'm using the skiff again.
