Iím a long time Great Lakes fisherman and Iím ready to do a little saltwater fishing. I reserved a spot at sunset marina for the last two weeks of August.

We we have a Parker 2820 pilot house. In regard to safety equipment I have collected the following:

Radar
satelite phone
garmin inreach

I still need to pick up a some type 1 life vests and an epirb. Debating on a life raft?

Fishing equipment I have several Ande 20 to 40 and 20 to 50 with Shimano TLD 25ís

I donít have outriggers yet but at the very least was going to get a set of Ruppís that go in the vertical rod holders.

I have a couple charts showing all the local wrecks.

Iím going to come down mid July and go out on a charter for a couple days prior to our August trip.

If anyone has any thoughts on a charter in July for 4 guys please let me know.

Any my other thoughts or comments would be appreciated........

Most of the boats your size don't have a raft, but that said doesn't hurt. Outrodders would help temporarily. Wrecks? I assume you mean to fish flounder, seabass, etc... or are you going canyons? What is your target for a charter? Good trip, species specific? A little late in booking. 3 Amigos out of Indian River may be able to run you.

The thought of bobbing around in the Atlantic waiting for rescue makes a life raft a no brainer IMO esp if you plan to run offshore more frequently. I carry a 6 man raft when I go offshore in my 26cc.

Curious, what did SS charge you for the 2 weeks in July? I called last year and they wanted some crazy amount but maybe they only had large slips available.

ocean city reef foundation will get you GPS for wrecks. Seemed like drifting for flounder around the inshore wrecks picked up in August last year.
Going on a charter is a great idea. Make friends with the deck hands. You may be able to coax one of them to go out on your boat with you. Local Knowledge is everything and not everything is going to be posted on the internet.

Unless you intend on using outriggers regularly I wouldnít bother buying them for a single trip. I have a set and have yet to get around to mounting them. Last time out with the use of wide tracker spreader bars I was able to run an 8 rod spread.

TorFed... Iím really open to anything in regard to specie. Would like to do a little trolling but a little reluctant to head out to the canyons this summer. Was. Going to look for a charter today for the weekend of July 19th and then bring the boat down in August. I have a trip lined up in August with a charter to go off shore....

You might get lucky trolling around the pork products (hambone, hotdog, sausages etc...) or Jackspot July-Sept. They're only about 20-30 miles out. Use same methods as you would in canyons.
