On most of the old Makos the deck is part of the liner. The boat was made in two basic pieces, the hull and a liner (including the deck) that kind of "hangs" from the hull sides. Mine was the same way. There is also a lot of foam that provides some support.

Hello wolf, I have a 1975 Mako 23', I noticed that the deck doesn't rest on top of the stringers, the deck is reinforced by what it looks like some structural members glue to the bottom but never touch the stringers on the hull, did the original deck on your boat was the same way? What you think supports the deck on my boat?
