The best advice I could give your son if he joins is to
    A. Keep the motivation and never give up
    B. Study for his asvab test before taking it with the recruiter.
    C. Don't settle for any job, get one in writing that will give him the best trajectory for his desired career path after the Corps.
If you or your son ever has any specific questions you are more then welcome to call or text. 910-840-9071

    Hey Sir,
I am a former marine. I served from 2009-2013. Joining the military is a serious decision and is absolutely not for everyone. I know only what you mentioned about your son, & it sounds like the Marine Corps would be an excellent fit, that being said not many kids know what they want at 17. If your son truly wants a career in a law enforcement capacity, I cant think of a better starting point then the Corps. The Marine Corps is not perfect & there are bad apples, but he will create a bond with people he serves with that will last a lifetime. For me personally, Joining was one of the best things I could have done. It launched me towards a successful career and I have not regretted my decision for even a second. Veterans do get extra points when applying to federal jobs that will help slightly on a resume when finished.

I don't know you but I see your tag name I'm guessing your a former Marine? My 17 yo son wants to go into military service, he wants to be a Marine. He is my youngest of 5 , sisters in law school , marine biology , and brother in college. He's a smart kid. , He wants to work for Federal gov. maybe a border patrol or us marshall type , airport armed TSA etc. after serving He's 6 ft strong , worried he'll be corrupted by others in the USMC. any thing you could tell me I'd appreciate . Ken
