Hi. Could I ask you some questions about the Prowler 31?
  2. 06-12-2018 09:33 AM
    Hi Track Junkie,

I have a 290ec with 250 zukes and I am running the factory 3 blade props. I noted you had 4 blades. Did you make the change and if so was it a favorable change? If so can you tell me what props (model and size) you used?

Thank you in advance for your help?

    Regards,

    Lee

Track junkie, recently was able to purchase from the insurance company 290 EC which received damage from hurricane Irma, previous owner left it on the rack without securing it properly so it had considerable fiberglass damage, nothing major, got about 80% of the work completed already but had to take a 2 week sabbatical do to racing adventures in Austin. Now comes the part hunting, Boat is missing
Fold down stern seats and backrest which are discontinued, might you know of anyone who has designed or modified a version of the seat? I’m running the 2009 Suzuki 250 which where on your boat Did you ship lame realistic numbers as what the factory provides usually is not accurate. This is my first cat and read extensively about them normally a Parker guy, but as I’ve gotten older my back prefers a little less beating, would appreciate your time and any knowledge that you can spell on me about your experience would be greatly appreciated .

Love your new Prowler! I've been on the fence for a couple years on doing a build just like yours. I saw you mentioned you may be building a 36... if so, let me know if you plan on selling yours.

    Tight lines,
    Preston

    Hey Junkie,
I'm about to close on a WC 270 TE with new DF 175's. I saw from your profile that you ran these on your SC. Can you share your thoughts on how they performed and what props you settled on?

I have always been a Cat guy, love the interior room of the square nose in the express boats. The 290 EC for us is the perfect boat, barely small enough to trailer, rides well, has a decent range and plenty of storage. With the 2 entry doors, and the bed in the middle, I have full standup head room all the way to the bow, and I am 6'3. They aren't very common though, we looked pretty hard before finding this one. We had 09 Zuke 250s when we bought the boat, and just repowered with white 2015 250 Zukes, absolutely love em, 3900 rpm at 30 mph, depending on load, 1.6-1.8 mpg. We recently spent 2 weeks in the Bahamas, and couldn't be happier with the boat.
    All the best,
    Richard

Howdy Track Junkie, curious how you are liking/loving your 290EC? I'm new to this model but was considering a Pursuit 3000 Express and looking for boats that have a live-able/weekend-able cabin while still providing a good platform for weekend fishing. If lucky, the Pursuit might get 1.25 mpg but the asking price is in the $60K range since they stopped making them in 2003. So, the boats are older. The 290EC's I'm seeing are in the $100K range with 1.75 mpg. Not sure what you're observing but $40k worth of fuel in between these two boats. at .5mpg, that could take a while to burn.

I confess I love the ride of the cat, having spent only a limited amount of time on them...maybe 25 miles off of Wilmington, NC. Couldn't believe how well this 26 CC (Glacier Bay) ate up the 3-5ft chop. I fish on the Great Lakes and rarely do we plan to go fishing in that condition. I just loved the ride.

Anyways, appreciate any feedback you can offer. Also, comments on the zukes?
