I'm looking at the ray marine Dragonfly 6. The complete package. But I don't see many threads talking about this unit. Is it because they don't have any problems or is it that's nobody's uses them. I'm very indecisive, first time buying this type of electronics. What's the best price you can do on the complete package for the Dragonfly 6 with maps for navigation. Or please suggest a unit that is easy on the wallet and easy to learn to use. I see a lot on threads on garmin products, It's going on a 17' flats boat so sonar doesn't have to be the latest/greatest. I appreciate the help. To many to choose from when I don't know what I'm looking at. Thanks

    Hi Gil,

I have a Boston Whaler 305 Conquest, and I would like to upgrade my bottom machine. Currently, I have a Garmin 5212, Garmin GHP 20 AP, 18 inch Garmin HD closed array, and an older lowrance lcx-111c hd. The lowrance unit is hooked up to an airmar through hull 600 watt transducer. My Garmin is not hook ed up to the bottom machine. So I am looking to change out the Lowrance and upgrade.

I need your guidance on how to procede. I would like to install a ducer that lets me see bottom to 2,500 feet, and a screen to display it. Not sure what the options are here. I don't necessarily need another GPS unit.

I deep drop both here off South Florida (Pompano Beach) and in the Bahamas. And also go sword fishing (right now just at night as I don't have the ability to see bottom at the depths for daytime swords).

    Anyway, what are your thoughts??

Gil I'm looking at the Garmin 741xs with a garmin 18 radome, no sounder. Don't need a big radar unit just something if the fog rolls in up here in rhode island. What would your price be on this setup or something compareable? Thank You

i am looking for help on a chart plotter for 18' Hewes. It is my first boat and I know nothing about electronics. I live in Beaufort, SC and will be inshore fishing - mostly fly fishing for reds. Since I am not a spring chicken, I was thinking a bigger screen might be better. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Gil, do you have a link to the installation manual to the garmin gt51m-thp duals? Having trouble finding it on and my installer is worried about cavitation and such to the twins. Any advice? Thx!
