    Hey Gil,
I have a Furuno FCV 587 that I purchased from you and a TM260 on my 21 Seaswirl. I love the machine and the transducer for my use except for one problem. After trying several depth adjustments with the TM I still get the screen totally distorted above 1200 RPM which equates to just over 3 knots. At speeds below that I can actually see fish and identify the approximate sizes at 900 ft. So I'm really considering purchasing a Airmar B164-Thru hull Transducer. I'm thinking it will work the same except less distortion at higher speeds. I know position is critical and I don't want to fix something that ain't broke but being able to see bottom at a fasted speed will work miracles. Do you have any numbers for depth speed ratios for these smaller vessels? Thoughts?

    Gil,

I am back in the market for a fishfinder/gps. I am on a freshwater lake in Frostproof with depths to 50 feet and all of the basemaps from various manufacturers are not very accurate. Relatively easy mapping is a plus and I am very intrigued by Insight Genesis. I am also impressed with the supposed sidescan ability of the Humminbird MEGA that can show shellcracker beds. Not sure if that is true or not. Portability from flats boat to pontoon is also important and I need an affordable second transducer/mount option. I have a striker 7sv with the GT52 currently mounted at the front of my flats boat on the trolling motor and a Go5 XSE at the console. What could you recommend with a $1200 budget?

Hi Gil, I have a Garmin 1040xs installed on my boat. there is an existing Airmar M265LH installed from a previous system. can I use the M265 LH? if so what do I need for an adapter? if not, can you quote an Airmar M260 for me?

any additional information / suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated. I have been giveen the run around by Garmin CS, I think they genuinely do not know what they are doing. It's a shame! some character named Bill L Product Support - Marine Team if you get him, take his advise with a grain of salt, the story is too long and crazy to explain here.

    thanks again,
    Mike

Hi Gil, do you have a recommendation for a chip for a garmin 7610 that would work in the lower Chesapeake bay and near shore off of VA beach? to 30 miles out. The spots that I have just get me close and it takes lots of looking to find well known wrecks.

    Thanks

I received my 840xs today, that was pretty quick. Thanks for all your help I will post a good review on the general forums. I have a question, I have a GPSMaps 441s also and want to know if it needs an update. How can I know if that unit has the most current update? I don't know how old the 441 is.
