How are you liking your Dragonfly? Any issues/regrets so far?

I have no idea which years etc work. The Seaddrive bracket is beefy but the mounting surface isn't that big. There is no right answer, these types of things are custom deals, just use your head and do your research.

Thanks for the replay SBD. Up to what year Evinrude/Johnson can I put on there? What is the max HP you would recommend putting on the old sea drive bracket. It currently has the 1.6L (approx 115hp).
Right now the back of the boat sits slightly higher then the deck drain plugs (which I typically keep sealed to keep water from sloshing in and out of the boat.
If I buy a used bracket and OB does that typically take a lot $ to have it installed as currently I have a full transom.
    Thanks!!

    1. I believe you can put later OMC motors on a SeaDrive bracket, I believe it has been done. The biggest problem is that OMC motor parts are fairly ez to get, parts for the bracket are not.

    2. It would depend on the motor and how you boat sits now.

    3. Buy a used bracket and OB. They are occasionally for sale. Just need to make sure its the right angle etc. for your boat.

    Hello SBD and others,
I have a 1984 Sea Ox 20' WAC with a Sea Drive OMC 1.6L (I think it is 115hp) engine. I have heard many bad things about the Sea Drive OMC engine combination. I am now fearful to take my boat out into the ocean as it can be quite dangerous getting out the pass (SF BAY). With this engine it takes a long time to get on plane and requires playing with the trim tabs to do so.

I have a couple questions and any advice is MUCH appreciated.
    1. Has anyone installed a new higher hp engine using the original Sea Drive bracket?
    2. Can I go up to (lets say a 150 - 225 hp engine or will it swamp my boat / brake the bracket?
    3. I am working on a budget so is there any other options for gaining a bit more power?
    Thank you for any advice!!
    Daniel
