I have always used Hydrocoat. Typically it lasts me 2 seasons where my boat is. Today they sold me Neptune 5. Will it wear like hydrocoat? i.e. no buildup. ? I don't want to have to sand paint ever again and I loved Hydrocoat for that reason. Don't know if I can transition to Neptune 5 without impacts. please advise.

Roll and tip and spray both have benefits and drawbacks. I have seen both application techniques produce paint jobs that are mirror smooth. If you are good with a spray gun and have the ability to spray a boat in a clean environment, by all means spray the boat. Roll and tip is great as well, just make sure you are comfortable doing this. Roll and tip is easiest with a partner One person rolls, and the other tips. For either method, make sure you thin the paint.

When rolling/tipping, I recommend high density foam rollers for spreading the paint. I have had good success tipping with soft bristle natural bristle brushes, but know many people that have good results "tipping" with another clean high density foam roller, or a foam brush.

White is a tough color to match. All white boats look white until they are right next each other. The best I can do is send you a color card for color matching, as we have a few different shades of white. Send me your address!
