Hi OIB Fisher, do you recall what the fuel tank capacity is on the 172 Sportfish?

Hey man, thanks for the info, sounds like lowcountry is definitely a 1st class outfit. Enjoy reading your post and see you are very quick to help out anyone asking advice in the area. That was a NICE rig you had up for sale a while back. Had I been living at the coast and not upgraded yet, would have been very interested. David

Very interested in your boat. I'm actively looking for a 16RF'r...but my schedule is crazy until next week or so. I'm in St. Petersburg, Florida near Tampa. I'd have to fly up. I've subscribed to the thread, so please post if it sells and I'll touch base with you soon. What is the closest airport or easiest way to get to your place to see the boat?

    Thanks.

question for ya. didn't you just get this boat? as ya know, I like to keep a smaller boat along with my 24, but this is probably too tight for what I like. oh, my question... in one of the pics, it looks like the motor might hit the poling platform if tilted any higher. is that the case, or just the way it looks in the pic? thanks, and good luck with it. it's a beauty and rigged nicely!

Hey there, I know it's been a while since your post, but I saw that you posted a question about your 17 Scout in 2012 - replacement accessories, padding, etc. I live in Wilmington and have a 202 Sportfish that I'd like to do many of the same things to. If you don't mind telling, what did you end up doing, where did you get it done and how much did it run you? I'd really like to replace a few of my cushions and I'd like a bench or leaning post as well. I have the captain's chairs currently. I'm not on THT too often, but you can message me back or email me at jtoups@cshlaw.com. Thanks! Jason

    Hi OIBFISHER,

Newby to THT here, just bought a 2001 Scout 172 Sportfisher, and just sent you a friend request, since it appears you are very knowledgeable. Look forward to touching base with you.

Hey OIBFISHER! I thought everyone here knew who I am by now.

That skiff is the one me son and I built as a little toy to play with. I own 1/2 of LightningYachts (.com), a custom builder here in the Jarrett Bay park in Beaufort and that is just a mini version of our bigger battlewagons. I was experimenting with all the composites we use on the bigger boats and was trying to see how light I could build a skiff, that one weighs 900# before rigging and I now have figured where I can shave another 150# after running her hard for the last 3 years.

If you're ever up this way please stop in and say hi, I've met a lot of THT'ers who've been by and always happy to give the nickel tour. Heck, if it's pretty it doesn't take much of an excuse to take off and go fishing, err I mean test ride!
