Hey just wanted to say thanks for the info. Also I did not want to hi jack the thread.
My Opti has been find except a $700.00 oil pump leak ($10.00 o ring) and the engine locking up after a start attempt. I turned it backward a stroke and it has been fine since, can you explain?
Also I have a in line fuel filter, run ethanol free fuel, and premium plus oil and put 4oz per 5 gal in the fuel to lub injectors, Am I missing anything?
You sound like you have owned a shop and I appreciate the knowledge and kind words.

I have a 1986 Pursuit 2200 Tiara Cuddy Cabin, and comes with 1997 Johnson 225 HP.

Boat runs great, went out 15 miles Saturday, will be fishing 30-40 miles out with it next week for snapper season..

Transom is getting week, but has 3-4 solid years left...$5,000 with aluminum trailer in good shape.

I see you have had a thing for v20's. I picked up a original 77 cc v20 I plan on fully restoring with my own twist of custom work. Id like to pick your brain a few things.

Saw that you were asking about a boat to fish the floaters. I have a 96 29' intrepid with twin 2001 250 yamahas I am considering selling. It is completely equipt to go to the floaters. I almost exclusively tuna fish floaters with it in fact. Radar, big new garmin, outriggers, 205 gallons, reinforced t top etc etc. we pull it with an f150. Asking 28k let me know if you are interested. 2252023915

I have a good friend with a 26 GB 05 hull, and 150f Yamaha 4 strokes 500-600 hours , '10 or 11' year. Boat is in great shape and a decent trailer but will need brakes as it boat is shed kept in Venice. Garmin 3210 MFD, Garmin HD24" 4kw radar. Furuno 582 sounder, good vhf with stereo that works but not perfectly. Outriggers, Kristal electric reel plugs. I am pretty sure he will sell for 40 but it is not on the market but he is talking about selling it. His name is Charley Durand cell number 504 329 1963.
My advise if you but a GB ,whatever one, get one with the 150F's, this has proven to be the best engine by far for these boats. By the way, he has tows it with a Ram 1500? (1/2 ton).

    midcap,

You replied to my post concerning the "2000 BF50 Timing Issue/Question" I've been thinking about this and I don't think you can actually change the position of the flywheel with regards to cylinder 1 TDC. It has a dowel pin in the crankshaft so the flywheel can only be bolted on one way. The timing mark on the flywheel will always be in the same exact spot, it can't be changed. I'm thinking the timing has got to be right and I'm being too critical because I can actually see the piston in the cylinder bore, I'm leaning more towards this must be a carb problem, but I could definitely be wrong because this is all new to me.
