Thanks for the insight. Yes pictures would be very helpful.

When I just got the boat I had done some measurements and found a plastic Moeller tank that "should" be able to fit. Cost a little under 1k each so I think I am going to take a risk and go pre-made, we have an ethanol problem here so going plastic should be better for long term. Worst case I still have the original tank in the center that actually looks pretty good for its age. My glass guy is coming in next week to look at cutting out the expanded tank and hopefully we learn enough so the second tank is easier. I figure I may as well change both if I am doing one.

I will definitely be looking at ways that we can get the tanks back out easily if needs be, but will still probably glass and foam them back in to try and get a good seal. Was tempted to put in some drainage but a good seal may be better. Any pictures and insight you have would be much appreciated. My email is

Hey man, I was literally 1 day away from launching my completely refurbished Contender 35 Side Console and knucklehead number 1 left the starboard tank's sender off, then left the deck plate off.

Enter knucklehead number 2 with a welding plant.. and the rest is history..

Do you have any detailed information on how you cut the tanks out on yours? I noticed you went through that a few years ago and made it look easy. Not only do I need to cut out the tank but have to deal with the swelling of the entire area so it's a bit tricky to minimize damage on the removal, any information would be helpful!

FYI we had 'emptied' the tanks before welding but of course there was still enough sitting at the bottom to combust and cause some problems. Thankfully nobody was hurt and its just a bit of pain and suffering to replace the tank and do some fibreglass repairs.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,
I saw an old post of yours regarding the fixing the rollers for the cabin door on an older 35 SC Contender.
How do I get the old door out/off?

I notice you have a Contender Side Console with etec 300? We where considering repowering our boat with these engines. Would you share your experience with us?

I'm looking at 1996-1997 pursuits 2870 offshore with ox66 225's (500 hours / 800 hours) and saw your post. What are the items to look for when inspecting these boats? I greatly appreciate any insight you could give. Also, how do the ride? are they dry? do they bow steer?

    Thank you!

Knot_Enuff, thanks for your post on the swap from OX66's to the E-tec's. I would really like to speak with you or message a few questions on how you arrived at the E-tec's as your final choice, and obviously, how you like them after you get them in the water. Thanks, Wendell

He's ready to sell. Just had the seats recovered and it's ready to go. Comes with trailer. I think that low 40s is too low given the condition and the equipment. I don't know the difference between the sport and the ss but this boat is loaded.

Do you still have the Shearwater 20 ? I am looking for some ideas on electronics installation , not much room to install the toys so I need some ideas. What size are the JL speakers you have installed in the front. I think you mentioned having the F150 can you tell me the exact model and pitch prop your running? Thanks for your help! Rob
